Ukraine has reached agreement with the United States on its participation in negotiations with Russia on the settlement of the situation in east Ukraine, Deputy Head of Ukraine's Presidential Administration Valeriy Chaly has said.

“We have reached agreement with the United States, with President [Barack] Obama, that they will be involved in the format of talks with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin… There will be a result if there is the president of such a powerful nuclear country,” he said on the Shuster Live program aired by the First National TV Channel on Friday evening, Sept. 19.

Chaly said that he considered “the Geneva format” of negotiations (Ukraine-EU-U.S.-Russia) on the settlement of the situation in the country’s eastern regions to be the most effective, but Ukraine is also working on the “Normandy format” with the participation of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia.

“I hope that we will find a format that will finally dot the i’s and cross the t’s,” he said.
