A chapel in memory of the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred (the anti-government protesters killed during the overthrowing of the regime of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych) is to be built on Instytutska Street in Kyiv. According to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, the chapel will be located between Hotel Ukraina and the upper exit of Khreschatyk metro station.

Wooden logs have already been taken to the site. They will be used to build the chapel, cross and dome using timber construction methods.

According to the construction workers, the materials have been brought from Zakarpattia, and the building will be completed within a month.

Earlier, there were several tents of Maidan participants at that site. The tents were burnt down during an attack by police on February 18. Then an improvised memorial was built with paving stone blocks, and a memorial stone in honor of the fallen was placed on top of it. Later, a wooden cross was set up nearby.

As reported, during mass protests on February 18-20, the police started shooting at the protesters. Over 100 people died. The fallen activists are called Heavenly Hundred.
