Border guards of the Mostyska border detachment, on the border with Poland, have registered a native of Chechnya who lived in Austria and sought asylum in Ukraine.

“When carrying out border control at the Shehyni checkpoint, this man submitted the documents of a stateless Austrian and applied for refugee status on Ukrainian territory due to political persecution by the Russian diaspora in Austria,” the press office of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported on Aug. 20.

According to the man, earlier he lived in Russia, but had to leave for Austria due to prosecution, but later he started getting threats. The man was allowed to enter Ukraine and handed over to employees of the State Migration Service.
