You're reading: Chornovol’s husband says she remains in grave condition

Mykola Berezovy, the husband of beaten activist and journalist Tetiana Chornovol, has described as misleading statements by the Ukrainian Health Ministry that his wife can already be discharged from hospital.

He said that she remains in a grave condition.

“As for the statement made by the Health Ministry, this is an absolutely false statement that has nothing to do with the actual state of events, and we unambiguously view it as an attempt to put pressure on the hospital,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He described as cynical such statements made by the Health Ministry on Christmas and said that his family sees this as “personal revenge” of the Health Ministry for the article written by Chornovol regarding Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova and her family.

Berezovy said that such statements could be directed to try to mitigate a future verdict against those who are to blame for causing grievous bodily harm to Chornovol.

He said that his wife is still in a grave condition and she has a high fever.

As reported, Chornovol was beaten in the early morning of December 25. Five people were detained for two months in connection with a criminal case on the incident.
