Yerevan - The interior ministers of CIS countries have approved a draft concept of cooperation in resisting crimes committed with the use of information technologies, Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said after a ministerial meeting.

"The draft document was approved and thus another step was taken to strengthen interstate cooperation on these matters. I am convinced that the adoption of the concept will permit pooling our efforts in resisting one of the most dangerous threats of modern times. The document defines the principles, tasks, key directions, forms and system of our interaction," he told reporters.

He added that the concept had been drafted by Belarus. He said that resistance to cyber crime is now coming to the forefront.

"This category of crimes as a rule is of interstate nature, therefore it can be effectively resisted only through joint efforts," he said.

He said that in the near future the document will be submitted to CIS heads of state for consideration.
