You're reading: Contact Group in Minsk agrees on withdrawal of foreign troops from Ukraine

Minsk - A memorandum on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the east of Ukraine, which was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine in Minsk in the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 20, suggests the withdrawal of all foreign armed forces from the conflict zone, former Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma told reporters after the negotiations.

“The last clause stipulates the withdrawal of all foreign troops from the territory of Ukraine. It also foresees the withdrawal of all so-called mercenaries,” Kuchma said.

The memorandum also bans planting new mines near towns and villages, and demands clearing placed mines.
