A total of 81 percent of Ukrainians, corruption is the main obstacle to their country's development, according to a survey conducted by TNS On-line Tracking in August 2015.

The respondents said the other main obstacles to the state’s development are the ongoing conflict in the east of the country (70 percent) and the lack of will amongst the political leadership to change the system of governance (69 percent).

According to the survey, 22 percent of young Ukrainians believe that the inactivity of the general public is the main barrier to the country’s development (22 percent), and are less likely to say that corruption is the main problem (75 percent).

Also, 23 percent of those polled said that the slow reform process is one of the obstacles blocking Ukraine’s development, with 60 percent of respondents saying that there is no reform process in Ukraine whatsoever.

Amongst those polled in the eastern regions of Ukraine, 32 percent said that the reform process had not started in the country, while in western regions only 17 percent believed the same

Inhabitants of Kyiv were most likely to believe that the reforms process has begun, with only 5 percent believing that the process had not started.

The eighth wave of the survey was carried out from Aug. 12, 2015 to Aug. 19, 2015. A total of 1,000 citizens from all over Ukraine aged between 18 to 55 years old were polled online.
