Moscow - Upon the request of investigators court has placed under arrest property of Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky accused in Russia under the case on using banned war means and methods.

In particular, an office building in Moscow has been arrested, Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The building belongs to Elite Holding and Kolomoisky is its co-founder.

“Based on the court rulings received, search was held in the named building and during it documents significant for the criminal case were found and seized. Besides, upon the court ruling on the request of investigators this estate was placed under arrest banning Elite Holding carrying out any regulatory power over it,” Markin said.

The arrest is introduced “in order to terminate financing of terrorist activities and other criminal actions regarding peaceful population of southeastern Ukraine,” he said.

“The Investigative Committee continues the work to determine other assets of Ihor Kolomoisky, including in Crimea,” Markin said.

Moscow’s Basmanny Court sanctioned earlier to arrest in absentia Kolomoisky, who is on the international wanted list. The Ukrainian businessman is accused in staging a number of crimes – murders, using banned war means and methods, impeding professional duties of reporters and kidnapping (the Russian Criminal Code Article 33 Part 3, Article 105 Part 2, Article 33 Part 3, Article 356 Part 1, Article 144 Part 3, and Article 126 Part 3).

According to the information of SPARK-Interfax, Kolomoisky owns 25 percent of Elite Holding.

The main business of the company is leasing non-residential real estate. Elite Holding is registered at Povarskaya Street in central Moscow.
