The Shevchenkivsky District Court in Kyiv has extended the pretrial arrest of Andriy Medvedko, who is suspected of killing Ukrainian writer and journalist Oleh Buzyna, until December 4, so granting an investigator's request, an Interfax correspondent reported.
Buzyna was killed in the yard of an apartment block where he lived in Kyiv on April 16, 2015. Police are investigating the incident on “premeditated murder” charges.
Medvedko and Denys Polischuk were detained on June 18 on suspicion of actually killing Buzyna.
Polischuk, a guard lieutenant of the Ukrainian armed forces, had taken part in the military operation in Donbas as the commander of the 54th reconnaissance battalion. Medvedko took part in the military operation in Donbas as a member of the Interior Ministry’s Kyiv-2 battalion.
Both suspects have denied their involvement in Buzyna’s murder.
