You're reading: Crimean election committee chief hopes international observers to monitor referendum

The Crimean Central Election Committee (CEC) is hoping international observers will be present on the referendum day, March 16, said Mykhailo Malyshev, chairman of the election committee for the referendum in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

“We hope there will be not only Russian observers but all those who want to take an unbiased view of what will happen on March 16,” he said.

The referendum commission will pass a resolution on the observers who will be able to work on the referendum day, Malyshev said. Furthermore, an information center which will collect all voting data will be open on the referendum day in Crimea.

“We shall inform everyone, including you (reporters) about the process of the referendum, registration and participation of foreign observers. We have envisaged all that,” Malyshev said.
