The Crimean organization of the Soyuz (Union) party has asked Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Chief Executive of Gazprom Alexei Miller to consider the issue of possible deliveries of natural gas to Crimea and Sevastopol in 2009-2010 at prices charged to citizens of Russia.
According to the party’s leader, Lev Myrymsky, this would prevent a municipal catastrophe from hitting the Crimean peninsula, the party’s press service reported.
"Deliveries of Russian gas set at internal Russian prices for the needs of Crimean citizens are of great importance for the autonomy and residents of Sevastopol," he said.
Representatives of the party also said that currently the Crimean budget cannot finance the municipal sphere in full, as the Crimean budget is short of millions of hryvnia compared with the previous years.
