Crimean Tatar language likely to become regional language in Crimea

Simferopol – Crimean Prime Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov has said that the Crimean Tatar language will be declared a regional language in the autonomy.

"Judging by the population of Crimean Tatars in Crimea, the Crimean Tatar language will most likely be declared a regional language in the autonomy," Mohyliov said in Simferopol on Wednesday, following a special sitting of the Crimean parliament, which instructed the Crimean government to draw up and submit by October 10, 2012 its proposals on the implementation of the law of Ukraine on the principles of the state language policy in the autonomy.

"The Council of Ministers of Crimea jointly with the deputies of the Supreme Council of Crimea will work to implement the law on the territory of Crimea," he said.

They are at Home. Crimea is their Motherland. They are as important as Ukrainians, Russians or any other nationality. They are not a handful of people, but they are sizable and visible minority. They have the same right to promote their culture and langauge as Ukrainian-speaking people.
