The Crimean taxpayers from May through August 2012 paid about Hr 6 million in tourist fees to the consolidated budget, which was 14% up year-over-year, the press service of the State Tax Service of Ukraine reported on Friday, Sept.7.
The press release, referring to Head of the Ukrainian Tax Service Oleksandr Klymenko, noted that for the further development of the economy of the resort it is necessary to extend the cooperation of the tax service and local authorities, including in the management of the tourist fee.
"I must state that there are many unresolved issues in the administration of the tourist fee. It's possible to make the management of the tourist fee efficient only through to the active cooperation of three interested subjects: the tax service, the local authorities and representatives of the hotel business. Meanwhile, there has been somewhat positive progress," he said.
Klymenko also reported that in May-August this year the total tax payment from Crimea to the Ukrainian consolidated budget was Hr 2.2 billion.
He said that the simplified taxation system, which is rather popular among the entrepreneurs, had stimulated business in the autonomy.
"In 2012 every third Crimean mini-hotel was a taxpayer of the single tax. In the last year, another 100 enterprises in the hotel sector chose the simplified system. We're already seeing a positive effect: the collection of the single tax in Crimea for this holiday season doubled compared to last year," Klymenko said.
