Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Vitaliy Yarema and acting Defense Minister Ihor Teniukh will be barred from entering Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, the Crimean prime minister, told Interfax.

“They are unwelcome in Crimea. Nobody will let them enter Crimea, and they’ll be sent back,” Aksionov said.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk had instructed Yarema and Teniukh to immediately fly to Crimea earlier on Wednesday. He instructed them to urgently fly to Crimea to prevent an escalation of the conflict, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Ostap Semerak said.

“Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a government meeting instructed First Deputy Prime Minister Yarema and Teniukh to urgently fly to Crimea to resolve the situation and prevent it from turning into a military conflict,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

He said that the government officials had already left for Crimea. It is unclear whether they traveled by car or plane, and if theyhave turned back to Kyiv since Aksyonov’s message.

Semerak said that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine planned to form a wider group to resolve the conflict.
