Danone-Ukraine, one of the largest dairy producers in Ukraine, has forecasted that the growth in the dairy product market in the country will be from 10% to 20% in 2013.

"Thanks to several initiatives aimed at increasing consumption, we expect that the growth of the market in 2013 will be from 10% to 20%. The task of Danone is to grow twice as fast as the market," Danone-Ukraine General Manager Dario Marchetti told Interfax-Ukraine.

He also said that the requirements of consumers have become stricter, and in particular, three is growth in demand on high-quality goods at a good price, instead of low-quality goods at a low price.

The company said that since the start of 2013, after several years of falling sales in all categories of dairy products in Ukraine, there was growth in two-digit figures.

Danone-Ukraine has not presented absolute indicators for sales, although it connects its growth with the launch of the national educational program “Three Servings of Dairy a Day,” which started early this year.

As reported, in 2012 Danone-Ukraine increased its net revenues by 14% compared with 2011. Its share of the whole milk product market in Ukraine in 2012 rose by 0.5 percentage notches, to 18.9%, according to the data from Nielsen.

Danone is the world’s leader in dairy production. It has been operating in Ukraine since 1998.
