You're reading: Darth Vader is not to become next Ukrainian president

Darth Vader, nominated by the Internet Party of Ukraine, has been refused registration as a presidential candidate for elections on May 25.

The decision was made by the Central Election Commission on Thursday because of data inconsistencies found in his documentation.

Darth Oleksiyovych Vader (born in Kolyban, Belarus, on January 10,
1956) is a Ukrainian public figure and politician. “He positions himself
as a popular character from the Star Wars epic movie. According to his
election manifesto, he is planning to increase the might of the
Ukrainian Armed Forces (by building a military orbital space station)
and acknowledge Sith as the second official language,” according to the
Wikipedia entry on Vader.

Vader took part in various activities in Odessa, fighting illegal
coastal parking, “legal” drug joints, and helping clean up after a
hurricane.

In all, 23 presidential candidates have been registered by the Central Election Commission.

The Ukrainian presidential election is due on May 25.
