New York - The number of victims of military hostilities in the east of Ukraine continues to increase and has already amounted to almost 3,800, UN Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic said on Friday. 

According to official data, as of Oct. 21, the number of victims of the Ukrainian conflict totaled 3,724 people, including 298 victims of the Malaysian aircraft crash, he said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

Simonovic added that since the signing of the Minsk protocol on September 5, around nine people are killed daily in eastern Ukraine.

He also noted that the United Nations estimated the number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine at 430,000.
