Debaltseve police chief Yevhen Yukhanov was killed by militants who attempted to seize the town police station, head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's department in Donetsk region Viacheslav Abroskin said.
“A group of militants on a reconnaissance and sabotage mission tried to seize the Debaltseve police station yesterday. The policemen and servicemen of the Artemivsk special battalion of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry fought off the attack,” Abroskin wrote on Facebook on Feb. 11.
Town police chief Col. Yevhen Yukhanov died while fighting the attackers.
