"The purposeful policy of concealment, which is the responsibility of the current government, led to the fact that a word became programmable, convoyed and intimidated. Consequently, the fourth power does not fulfill its primary mission, which is to be on guard, wake up and expose the truth. In these conditions, it is particularly important to protect the independent sources of information," reads a press release of the initiative group.

The members of the group believe that the country needs "an honest, professional and productive conversation about vital issues, which will guarantee the right of vote to everybody."

"But this conversation is impossible without freedom of speech and free access to information. Protecting freedom of speech and free mass media, among which is TVi Channel, we will ensure the chance of the democratic development of Ukraine," said the intellectuals.
