The Ukrainian Armed Forces are involved neither in political rallies in Kyiv and nor in financial and technical support of these demonstrations, Ukrainian Defense Minister Pavlo Lebedev said.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces are a state institution whose assignment
is to defend Ukraine, to protect its sovereignty, inviolability of
territory, and integrity. According to the provisions of the
Constitution, the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot be used to limit rights
and freedoms of citizens or with the purpose of overthrowing the
constitutional order in the country, removing the authorities or
obstructing their activities,” the Defense Ministry press office quoted
Lebedev as saying on Thursday.

According to Article 17 and Article 37 of the Ukrainian Constitution,
the participation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in domestic political
fights is absolutely out of question, the minister said.
