Yaroslav Babych, deputy head of the headquarters of the civil corps of the Azov regiment, was found hanged in his apartment, the press service for the Azov regiment reported on July 27.

“Yaroslav Babych, our brother, deputy head of the headquarters of the Azov civil corps and a prominent lawyer, is dead. His body was found in his apartment on the morning of July 26. The cause of death is now unknown, an investigation is underway,” a report posted on the official Azov Twitter account says.

The press service for the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s Main Department in the Kyiv region has reported that the body of a 39-year-old local resident, who, according to tentative information, committed suicide by hanging, was found in his residence in the town of Bucha, Kyiv region.

“Local residents contacted the Irpinsky city police department and said one of their friends had not made contact for 24 hours. Police officers went to the missing man’s residence and found his body there. According to tentative information, the man committed suicide by hanging. No evidence of violence was found on his body,” the police said.

A murder case has been opened. An investigation is underway.

Anton Heraschenko, an adviser to the interior minister and a parliamentarian (People’s Front faction) calls against spreading rumors and theories about Babych’s death and advises waiting for official information. “Forensic experts and criminalists will determine how Yaroslav died, whether it was suicide or murder,” he said on Facebook.
