The Prosecutor General's Office has handed a notification on suspicion of abuse of power during the events at night on Nov. 30 on Maidan Square to Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Volodymyr Sivkovych, Head of Kyiv City Administration Oleksandr Popov, the then Head of Kyiv police Valeriy Koriak and Deputy Head of Kyiv police Petro Fedchuk, Public Prosecutor of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka said in Kyiv on Saturday.
“Notifications on the suspicion of Sivkovych and Popov of abuse of power were handed to them,” Pshonka said at a briefing on Saturday.
“Yesterday I personally informed the head of state on this… the president gave his accord to the suspension of them from the posts they run,” he said.
Pshonka said that today Koriak and his deputy Fedchuk were also notified about the suspicion of abuse of power.
“All four officials will soon be placed under home arrest,” Pshonka said.
He said that the investigators established that at night from November 29 to November 30 Sivkovych and Popov were staying at the cabinet of Head of the Chief Department of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in Kyiv Koriak.
“They asked him [Koriak] to use force [to disperse the Euromaidan],” he said.
Pshonka added that initially Sivkovych visited Popov with the said purpose and then he called Koriak and later he arrived to his cabinet.
He reminded that Koriak was suspended from performing his duties by Interior Minister of Ukraine Vitaliy Zakharchenko.
