You're reading: Deschytsia: Government approves directives for quadripartite talks in Geneva

Ukraine's government at its meeting on April 16 approved the directives for quadripartite talks between foreign ministers of Ukraine, Russia, European Union and the United States over Ukraine, which are due in Geneva on April 17.

 The meeting is to focus on the issues meant for de-escalation of the
situation in Ukraine, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia said
at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He reported that United States Secretary of State John Kerry and EU
High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine
Ashton would take part in the meeting. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov is expected to represent Russia’s interests.

Andriy Deschytsia will represent Ukraine.

“We have clear stands for these consultations. First of all, it is
stopping of Russian support to terrorist alignments that working in the
eastern regions of Ukraine. Besides, we’ll demand that Russia condemn
such terrorist actions and withdraw troops that are concentrated in the
eastern regions of Ukraine,” the Ukrainian minister said.
