Gunfire is audible in almost every district of Donetsk on Aug. 19 evening and at least four people have been injured, the city council said.

“This afternoon, residential and multi-storey buildings, as well as properties were damaged a result of artillery fire in the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk. At number 17, Semen-Tian-Shansky Street, shells hit a flat on the ninth floor in the first entrance of the house and one on the sixth floor in the second entrance. An explosion wave smashed windows in the nearby house number eleven, shrapnel damaged the cars parked outside and a gas pipe. Also, two civilians have reportedly been injured. In Artemivska Street, private houses number 210 and 212 were damaged, as are gas pipelines,” the city council said on Aug. 19.

Also, in the Kyivsky district, a shell hit a nine-storey residential building number 194a in Artema Street. The scale of damage is being clarified. Local gas-supply systems have also been damaged, leading to the houses number 204, 204a, 206a, 206b, 208, 210a, 210b being cut off from gas supplies.

“As of 5.30 p.m. the situation in the city is extremely tense. Locals report frequent volleys of gunfire from various kinds of weapons heard in virtually every district,” the statement said.

Emergency teams from DonetskOblEnergo (Donetsk Regional Power) “have started repairing overhead lines which power the Verkhniokalmiuska Filter Station that supplies water to the city of Donetsk,” the city council said.

Also, after completing repairs on Aug. 19, emergency teams from DonetskGorGaz (Donetsk City Gas) started supplying gas to properties number 70 and number 75 on Kameniariv and Sadova Streets, as well as the tower blocks N214 in Kuibyshev Street and N159 in Artema Street.
