You're reading: Donetsk news agency reports three OSCE SMM bases to open in separatist areas

DONETSK - Forward patrolling bases of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Special Monitoring Mission (OSCE SMM) will open in Horlivka, Debaltseve and Yenakieve on October 25 for the convenient monitoring of the events on the contact line, the Donetsk news agency reported with reference to a source with knowledge of the situation.

OSCE SMM Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug and representatives of the Joint Control and Coordination Center of the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic had talks on this issue in Donetsk on October 23, the source said.

‘Hug said that bases will be placed in Horlivka, Yenakieve and Debaltseve that will allow the mission monitors to cut the time of a trip on the territory of the DPR and monitor more closely what is happening on the contact line,’ it said.

It is reported that the opening of bases is planned on Sunday, October 25, around 15 people will work at them.

The OSCE SMM deputy chief monitor asked representatives of the DPR Defense Ministry to ensure security of the SMM activity in the contact line zone, the source said.Currently, a forward patrolling base operates only in Donetsk.
