MOSCOW - Leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko signed a decree on holding elections in local self-government bodies on Oct. 18 that does not coincide with the date of similar polls on the other Ukrainian territory.

“Today I have signed a decree on holding elections in local self-government bodies on October 18, 2015,” the Donetsk news agency quoted Zakharchenko as saying.

It is planned to hold elections on the territory of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic on Nov. 1. Meanwhile, representatives of local self-government bodies will be elected on the other territory of Ukraine on Oct. 25.
