Sixteen people were killed in the battle near the town of Volnovakha in Donetsk region, the healthcare department of Donetsk Regional State Administration has reported.

However, the administration didn’t specify whether all of those killed were servicemen of the Ukrainian army.

The thirty-two injured persons are at the medical establishments
following this morning attack on the servicemen of the Armed Forces of
Ukraine in Volnovakha region, said the report.

The wounded are in either a moderately severe, grave or extremely
grave condition. The necessary medical aid is being rendered to them.

As reported, Verkhovna Rada Chairman and interim President of Ukraine
Oleksandr Turchynov reported, during the fighting near Volnovakha in
Donetsk region on Thursday morning thirteen Ukrainian servicemen were
killed.

Meanwhile, self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” also gave casualty figures: 20 killed and 42 injured.

Volnovakha is a town in the southwest of Donetsk region, Ukraine,
with a population over 20,000 people, situated 60 kilometers southwest
of Donetsk along the road connecting Sloviansk, Donetsk and Mariupol.
