Donetsk has spent one more night with cannonades and shell explosions, the city council said on Saturday, July 26.

“People in all districts of Donetsk have been reporting explosions and heavy weapon fire the sound of which came from the vicinity of Kirovsky district, the bypass road and the vicinity of the airport,” the council said in a report on the situation between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Three buildings in Kuibyshevsky district were hit by shells and caught fire, and a shell damaged a private house in Petrovsky district. Firefighters extinguished the fires and no one was hurt, the statement said.

However, a young woman worker at a gas station in Kyivsky district received a splinter injury.

By 9.30 a.m. the situation remained tense, the statement said.

“City authorities at all levels have held negotiations and reached an agreement to provide a ‘green corridor’ for an emergency repairs team from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, on July 26, to restore electricity supply in Kuibyshevsky district and part of Kyivsky district. At 7 a.m. the specialists were ready to set off for the accident sites but the situation remains hazardous,” the council said.

Repairs of the electricity grid of Petrovsky district were also being hampered by fighting.
