Moscow - Oleksandr Borodai has resigned the office of the prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk Peole's Republic (DPR), the Novorossiya agency said on Thursday, Aug. 7.

“DPR Prime Minister Borodai told a press conference in Donetsk that he is stepping down. The republic’s government will be led by one of the Oplot organization leaders, Oleksandr Zakharchenko,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the same agency said earlier on Thursday that the DPR premier was not going to quit.

“Everything is alright with Borodai. I will tell you there are very many rumors in this war. Last week they said that Borodai had fled the Republic, and now they are saying he is stepping down. For now, he is not going to go anywhere,” DPR spokesman Andriy Rodkin said, according to the press center.

He added that Borodai is due to give a scheduled press conference at the Donetsk government house on Aug. 7.
