You're reading: Due to warfare many energy facilities of systemic importance damaged in Donetsk region

Due to armed hostilities on the territory of Donetsk region several important facilities that belong to the Donbas energy system of national energy company Ukrenergo were damaged and cut off from power, and normal power supply to the facilities of DTEK Power Grid LLC and public joint-stock company DTEK Donetskoblenergo was disrupted, the press service of DTEK has reported.

“After artillery shelling using a Grad multiple rocket launcher the
PS-330 kV Central substation of Artemivsk trunk power lines of Ukrenergo
was cut off from power. All high-voltage 110 kV lines belonged to DTEK
Power Grid and DTEK Donetskoblenergo were disconnected,” the company
said.

The company also said that Pivnichna mine in Dzerzhynsk and Gagarin mine in Horlivka were left without power.

“Cutting off power at PS-35 kV substation left a phenolic plant and
St. Matrona Moskovskaya Mine (Dzerzhynsk) without power, and eight
people were in the mine at the moment of the cutting off of power. Only
when voltage was restored were the people were taken out of the mine,”
DTEK said.

The company said that the most difficult situation in Artemivsk,
Avdiyivka, Horlivka, Yasynuvata and Maryinka districts. It is impossible
to restore the facilities due to armed hostilities.
