The Russian State Duma Council has described the current situation in Ukraine as an acute political crisis.
“It is impossible to hold legitimate and democratic elections in these conditions,” the Duma Council said in a statement on Saturday.
The new Ukrainian authorities are violating the rights of Ukrainian citizens, particularly their right to receive education and communicate in their native language, the Duma Council said.
Violence is being committed and dissent persecuted on a significant part of the Ukrainian territory, and the activities of a number of parliamentary parties have been banned, it said.
