The West's sanctions against Russia will not help resolve the crisis in Ukraine, says Alexei Pushkov, the head of the Russian State Duma international affairs committee.

“The issue of sanctions is quite unproductive because sanctions may
cause significant damage to both Russia and Western countries that have a
lot of trade-economic ties with us, but they can’t resolve the crisis
in Ukraine. The people occupying the building of the Donetsk regional
administration will not leave this building only because of sanctions
that the U.S. or the EU could apply,” Pushkov told journalists on
Thursday.
