KYIV, October 15 – Dynamo Kyiv President Ihor Surkis said the club would prefer striker Serhiy Rebrov to return to his former club than to play for Spartak Moscow, which has been negotiating with him.

“If Serhiy Rebrov is destined to play for any post-Soviet team, it’ll be Kyiv’s Dynamo and no other club,” the Interfax news agency quoted Surkis as saying in a radio interview Monday.

Spartak officials have said they were negotiating with the former Dynamo star, who was sold to Tottenham in June 2000 for 11 million pounds (US$17.3 million). Rebrov, 27, has said he is unsatisfied at Tottenham. He has not started this season, and while he appeared on a substitute list for the first three matches, he did not play.
