Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine has initiated toughening of the rules of sale beer, alcohol drinks and tobacco goods.

The relative bill amending some laws of Ukraine on regulation of domestic trade was posted on the ministry’s Web site.

In particular, the ministry proposes to foresee in the law “On state
regulation of production and sale of ethyl, cognac and fruit alcohol,
alcohol beverages and tobacco goods” a permission to sell beer (except
of alcohol-free), low-alcohol beverages and tobacco goods only in the
specialized shops or premises with cash registers.

However, this requirement doesn’t concern outlets with square less
than 100 square meters in the residential areas with population less
than 5,000 residents.

Besides, the ministry offered to rename the dining facilities into
restaurant facilities and to ensure them a right to sell alcohol drinks
on tap.

According to the document, if the law is adopted, these amendments will come into force year after its posting.
