You're reading: Efforts to restore power, water supplies for Luhansk continue – city council

 The first power line in Luhansk has been fixed, the second one is now being repaired. Also, efforts continue to re-connect the city's water-supply and water-discharge facilities, the Luhansk city council said on Sept. 16.

 “The first power line has already been restored; work is underway to repair the second one. Water-supply and water-discharge facilities are being re-connected, and communications, the bakery and other strategic assets being powered,” the statement said.

Furthermore, in the village of Velyka Verhunka gas supply is being phased in, and efforts are underway to repair street lighting and electric transport.

Trash removal to a solid waste dump in Oleksandrivka resumed last Monday, the Luhansk Waste Disposal Center has been tasked with removing trash from the private property sector.

Hospitals and several schools in Luhansk are currently open as usual.

“Over 1,500 young Luhansk residents are already at their desks in seven schools that have opened; the other schools and kindergartens are forming lists of potential students, with almost 40% of children already back in their city, and, are prepared to reopen, if need be and under favorable conditions of water and power supplies,” the mayor’s office said.
