You're reading: Election 2012 blog: A map of political preferences released

Serhiy Vasylchenko, a Ukrainian blogger, has made a map of political preferences by communities in the Oct. 28 parliamentary elections.

He took a map of
administrative units in Ukraine, and superimposed the preliminary
result of vote as it was released by the Central Election Commission
by the end of Oct. 29.

He has done similar maps
before. He posted a map
of political preferences in the presidential election in 2010

just before the Sunday vote. He also did a colorful comparative study
of the limits
of majority constituencies
in 2012, compared to 10 years ago,
complete with regional breakdown.

In his blog, he gives his
full resume, which shows he is an analyst and journalist, with a lot
of background in non-government organizations that specialized in
elections. In particular, he was acting director for the Committee of
Voters of Ukraine in 1995-96, when it was the biggest election
watchdog in the country, and worked as a consultant or expert for the
National Democratic Institute, Europe XXI Foundation, and others.

In his blog,
http://vasylchenko.ucoz.ru,
he said he will update the electoral map when the final results are
available.
