You're reading: Emergency Situations Service: All tourists stuck on cable cars in Yalta successfully evacuated

Simferopol - None of the 76 tourists who were evacuated from the Miskhor-Ai-Petri cable cars on Aug. 11 were injured, the main office of the State Service on Emergency Situations of Ukraine has reported. 

According to the service, rescuers evacuated 41 Ukrainian citizens, including six children, 34 Russians, including seven children, and one citizen of Armenia. As of 00:40 on Monday they were all taken to a safe place, and nobody requested medical care.

As reported, 76 people were stuck in the air due to a mechanical failure of the cable car system on Sunday. Thirty-eight of them were stuck near the lower Miskhor station, at an altitude of about 50 meters, while another 38 were in the area adjacent to the Ai-Petri plateau, at an altitude of about 130-140 meters.

Rescuers who arrived at the scene launched an operation to evacuate the tourists. The winds at the scene of the operation were 10-12 m/s. Bringing each person down took on average 7-10 minutes. The resuce was carried out in compliance with the highest safety measures.

In total, about 100 people were involved in the work, in particular, rescuers, Interior Ministry employees, employees of the cable car system, doctors, and representatives of the Yalta city authorities.
