There won't be any rolling blackouts this winter, Minister of the Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn said at a cabinet meeting.

“We will be ready for the heating season… I want to reassure [the public] that there won’t be rolling blackouts this year,” he said.

Demchyshyn also said that recently a positive trend in coal accumulation at power stations was recently observed.

“I want to inform you that during the last week an additional 120,000 tonnes of coal was accumulated in warehouses,” he said.

According to the minister, Ukrainian thermal power plants need to buy at least another 1.5 million tonnes of coal by winter.
