President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has said energy security is an important issue in the context of Ukraine's cooperation with the European Union.
“We attach great significance to deepening relations with the
European Union,” Yanukovych said during the meeting with member of EU
Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger, the president’s press service
reported on Thursday.
“In fact, the work that we’re scheduled to do by the Vilnius Summit
is at the final stage. Another, very big question is the issue of the
energy security of Ukraine,” Yanukovych said.
In turn Oettinger spoke of constructive cooperation with representatives of the Ukrainian government.
“We see good cooperation at all levels with the corresponding
departments of the Ukrainian side, as well as with the corresponding
departments in our general directorate,” he added.
“Our relations are getting deeper,” the EU commissioner said.
