TALLIN – Estonia does not support an idea of isolation of Ukraine, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet has said.

"Despite the difficult situation in Ukraine, Estonia does not consider it right to isolate the state. At the same time, we should state clearly what changes we want to see in Ukraine," he said while commenting on a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on May 14.

Paet also said that Ukraine’s integration into the EU still meets interests of both sides, the press service of the Foreign Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.

"The dialogue with Ukraine is important and it should be supported, while the integration process depends on Ukraine first of all," the ministers said.

The minister added that the signature and ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement depend on the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for autumn in Ukraine, the elimination of selective justice, and the issuing of fair rulings in trials of former high-ranking government officials.

"A new constitution should be adopted and new laws, including ones on elections, the criminal code and on public unions, should be implemented," Paet said.
