DNIPROPETROVSK - Three flights have brought 62 tonnes of humanitarian aid from the European Union to Dnipropetrovsk.
European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides personally oversaw the unloading operation at the Dnipropetrovsk airport on Jan. 27, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
Stylianides said that the European Union had increased humanitarian aid for Ukraine three times in 2015 to 15 million euro.
He expressed concern about the situation in Mariupol, where civilians were killed.
Dnipropetrovsk regional administration officials and the European commissioner’s representatives said that the humanitarian cargo was mostly intended for residents of Mariupol, Debaltseve and Kramatorsk in Donetsk region and for forced migrants currently residing in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia regions.
The cargo includes warm blankets, tents, sleeping bags, clothes, medicines and food, Stylianides said.
