BRUSSELS - European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn has noted a significant deterioration of the economic situation in Ukraine.

“The recovery of the country is vital,” he told reporters before a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.

The European Commissioner drew attention to the situation with the national currency, stressing that the issue needs to be settled as soon as possible.

In addition, Hahn said the issue of when an investor conference will be held in Ukraine remains unresolved.

“I hope the government in February will fulfill its promises regarding specific reform proposals, which should be the basis for an investors’ conference, which I hope could be held in April,” he said.
