Brussels - Russia sent a second humanitarian convoy to Ukraine's east in violation of international standards, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton has said in an official statement.

“During the weekend, a second Russian humanitarian convoy arrived in Ukraine and left the country’s territory without the consent of, or inspections by, the Ukrainian authorities,” Ashton said, adding that this contradicts with the fundamental principles of international law.

“Thus, this way of sending the humanitarian aid is illegal and violates Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty,” said the statement, which was sent to Interfax-Ukraine.
