You're reading: EU delegation to Ukraine worried by Sviatoshynsky clashes

The European Union has expressed its concern over the use of force in the early hours of Saturday outside Kyiv Sviatoshynsky district court and Sviatoshynsky district department of police.

Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Maria Yurikova called on all sides to refrain from using violence, as the EU delegation had already asked on December 25.

As reported, Berkut riot police and activists of the Avtomaidan movement clashed outside Sviatoshynsky district police department in Kyiv. The incident happened because of the reaction of protesters on the verdict passed by Kyiv Sviatoshynsky court, which sentenced three men each to six years in prison for planning to blow up the monument to Lenin in Boryspil during the Independence Day celebrations in 2011.
