You're reading: EU economic sanctions on Russia to be published on July 31

Brussels - The restrictive economic measures on Russia approved by the European Union Committee of Permanent Representatives on Tuesday, july 29 will be adopted by the Council of the European Union in writing, the Council said in a document released in Brussels.

The document also states that the decision on sanctions will be
published in the official Journal of the European Union on July 31 and
they will take effect the next day.

The document states the restrictive measures will apply to new contracts.

A European official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told a
briefing in Brussels on Tuesday, July 29 that the sanctions on Russia are imposed
for a period of one year and may change depending on the circumstances.
