Brussels - Representatives of the EU member states at a meeting in Brussels have decided to expand sanctions against a number of individuals and companies due to the events in Ukraine.

A senior European diplomat told Interfax-Ukraine that 13 persons would be denied entry into the EU and that their assets and the assets of five companies would be frozen.

He said that this was due to their participation in activities that undermine the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Such a decision was made on the basis of the decision, which was previously approved on Nov. 17 this year by the foreign ministers of EU member states, who assessed the situation in eastern Ukraine and called for new sanctions against the separatists.

It is expected that this decision will be endorsed by the EU Council on Friday, Nov. 28, in line with the written procedure, and after that the legal acts will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union on Saturday, Nov. 29.
