BRUSSELS - Ukraine is fulfilling the Minsk agreement, Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, has said.

“You are aware what this agreement contains. Both laws, on amnesty and special regional status, are important steps towards finding a sustainable political solution to the crisis,” she said at a press briefing on Sept. 17.

When asked to comment on the situation near Donetsk, Kocijancic said that the EU was closely following developments on the ground. She also said that Brussels was aware of shells being fired in Donetsk.

“This is obviously something that we would condemn, and we are also aware that a few days ago there were incidents in the city, where OSCE monitors were witnessing them and they had to withdraw. We call on all sides to fully observe the ceasefire and also provide a safe and secure environment for the work of OSCE monitors,” Kocijancic said.
