You're reading: EU to issue about three million euro for consulting project to promote reforms in Ukraine’s civil security sector

The EU Council has created an advisory mission to promote reforms in the field of civil security in Ukraine - EUAM Ukraine, the EU representative in Ukraine has said.

According to the report, the mission created within the EU’s joint policy in the field of security and defense will be civil, without authority. The EU advisers and experts will focus on supporting the creation of new strategies of civil security for reform implementation.

According to the report, the EU intends by November 30 to issue 2.8 million euro for the project realization. The headquarters of the mission, which will have a two-year mandate, will be located in Kyiv.

“The Ukrainian authorities have started moving on a very important way of civil security sector reforms and asked for support from the EU, which, in turn, creates the mission to assist in the implementation of this reform,” reads the report citing EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.
