As the anniversary of the bloodiest part and culmination of the EuroMaidan Revolution is upon Ukraine, a series of memorial and EuroMaidan-themed events are scheduled in Kyiv all weekend, from Feb. 20-22.

“Maidan. The Untold Story” book presentation by Sonya Koshkina

“Maidan. The Untold Story” is an investigation of the political backstage of the EuroMaidan Revolution written by Sonya Koshkina, the editor-in-chief of LB.ua news website. She based the book on the interviews with the politicians from both sides of the political conflict, opposition and authorities. The book is published in Russian.

Lighting of 100 memorial lanterns

Memorial lanterns will be lighted and
100 handmade helium balloons decorated with white fabric launched in air in a tribute to the murdered protesters of the Heavenly Hundred.

Mozart’s “Requiem” in opera

Soloists, choir, and symphony orchestra of the Opera and Ballet Theater for Youth will perform “Requiem” in memory of the EuroMaidan murdered protesters. The
performance will be in German.

Official ceremony on Maidan

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko will make an address on Maidan
Nezalezhnosti on Feb. 20. His speech will be followed by the moment of
silence
, the light performance
“The Lights of Dignity,” the performances by a choir, National
Sympony Orchestra of Ukraine, and an a capella band Pikkardiyska Tertsia.

Bernard-Henri Lévy in one-actor play

French writer Bernard-Henri Lévy is about to perform his one-actor play “Hotel Europe” in Kyiv. The action takes place in summer 2014 in Sarajevo, where the protagonist – a writer – prepares a speech for the World War I commemoration day. The playdeals with European values, genocide of the Bosnians, andreflects the theme of the EuroMaidan Revolution. During the performance the donations will be collected for the Ukrainian army.

Documentary exhibition “Presence” (“Prysutnist”)

Evidence
of Russian aggression in Ukraine will be demonstrated in an outdoor exhibition that opens on Feb. 21.

“Creativity of Freedom: (R)evolutionary Culture of
Maidan”

The closing day of the “Creativity of
Freedom: (R)evolutionary Culture of Maidan” exhibition of the EuroMaidan
artifacts will feature a charity concert of ethnic music and a
street food sale.

Memorial walk across EuroMaidan places

The walk starts near the memorial cross near Khreshchatyk metro station exit on Instytutska Sreet.
After the walk the priests of different religious confessions will pray for peace.

Piano Extremist performance

The mysterious masked pianist who used to give piano shows at Maidan was one of the symbols of the EuroMaidan Revolution. He hasn’t revealed his
real name, and used only an ironic stage name “Extremist.”

“Come Back Alive” musical performance

“Come Back
Alive” is an art musical performance by the vocal duo Telnyuk Sisters, a
symphony orchestra, a choir, and ballet dancers. The performance tells a story
of a young participant of the EuroMaidan Revolution.
