You're reading: European Commission: Question of Yanukovych’s visit to Brussels remains open

Brussels - The European Commission has stated once again that the question of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's upcoming visit to Brussels remains open.

"We still expect movement from the Ukrainian side [regarding the decriminalization of the Criminal Code article, under which former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was sentenced]," a source at the European Commission told Interfax-Ukraine in Brussels on Monday.

The source said that that the European Commission’s position on this issue announced last week remained the same as of today.

"The visit is on the agenda, but a final decision has not been taken yet. Any other reports are conjecture," the source said.
